Mariana Giovino
Chief Talent Officer
Mariana Giovino received her Ph.D. in the iconography of Neo-Assyrian symbols. Over her twenty-five years as an academic, she combined field archaeology and philology with the disciplines of art history and historiography. Her approach to any question still involves viewing it like a prism, that refracts into numerous ways of seeing or understanding. For the last decade, she has applied this approach to critically seeing her way through the challenges thrown up by corporate structures who now hire her as a transformational human resources leader and consultant.
In her work on disrupting organizational cultures, Mariana has researched and developed cutting edge content and approaches for those who lead in rapidly changing environments.
The ability to pivot is the most important leadership skill one can have. Mariana goes underground, beneath the surface of the leadership industry, to uncover the interconnectedness between leadership style and employee engagement. She specializes in partnering with C-Suite executives who are ready to develop the moral courage it takes to overcome the status quo.
At present, she is the Chief Talent Officer leading the HR team at United Family Medicine, a federally-qualified health center, serving the populations of St. Paul, MN, who are most at risk for health disparities. Mariana continues to develop herself through anti-racism training (currently through the work of Somatic Abolitionism), which increases her awareness of implicit bias against all differences. Her work involves opening the gates of opportunity to as many different ways of thinking and being as organizations can attract.
Her past positions include HR Director at Heraeus Medical Components overseeing sites in MN, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica; Operations Manager for the City of St. Paul’s Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Dept. overhauling system processes and coaching
LEADERS; Education Lead at St. Croix Hospice training MDs and RNs across five states; Clinical Services and Training Lead for St. Christopher’s End-of-Life Nursing Team and Advocacy Lead for the Royal Trinity Hospice—the two largest hospices based in London, U.K. Mariana partnered with executive leaders in these roles to develop their adaptability to change, their ability to detect conscious and unconscious bias and their commitment to overcoming aversion to accountability. In her work on achieving the Quadruple Aim in the U.S. and U.K., Mariana has coached clinical staff in managing client expectations with clinician capacity, and in identifying and addressing compassion fatigue and burnout before
